Final Exam

We started the final exam project today.

You will have 5 classes (Today, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) to complete it. You will present it to the class on Friday, June 17.

This exam is your chance to create a MASTERPIECE which demonstrates the reading, research, note-taking, geography, poetry, creative writing, visualizing, and speaking skills you've developed and refined throughout the year.

The masterpiece will consist of

•a story (probably 3-4 pages long, complete with an introduction, rising action, climax, falling action and conclusion, a conflict, a theme, a problem to be resolved, and realistic characters)

•a historical setting of one of the time periods we have studied this year (at least 15 facts about the Viking era and/or Medieval Europe, Ancient or medieval India, one of the Chinese Dynasties, feudal Japan, or the Renaissance)

•a historical map, complete with latitude and longitude, an 8-point compass, landform and waterbody features labeled, major countries, towns and cities that existed at the time

•a poem (at least 8 lines long and using at least 3 poetic devices, eg. simile, metaphor, alliteration, omomatopoeia, etc.)

•a historical illustration (showing clothing, architecture, features of daily life, etc.)

•an oral presentation (a rehearsed reading demonstrating appropriate volume, speed, clarity, eye contact, posture, enthusiasm, etc.)

It is worth 100 marks and 20% of the year's grade.

GOOD LUCK to all!

I look forward to seeing and hearing some great stories!
